Built Over-The-Water

We are proud to offer Casita del Mar, an eco villa built over the Caribbean ocean in Dolphin Bay, on Isla Cristobal in the archipelago of Bocas del Toro, Panama.

Situated along a mile-long coral reef approx. 25 minutes by boat from Bocas town/airport and 2 hours from the Costa Rica border.

The property has direct access to beautiful hiking trails and the villa is stocked with snorkel gear, paddle-boards and kayaks for guests to use. Our goal is to offer guests an intimate experience with nature where you can relax in comfort while at the same time minimizing the impact on the environment.

Casita del Mar was construction in 2017 of local natural building materials offered by the rich resources of the region. The result is a close to nature ambiance. From you’re private 30-foot terrace, you will be able to observe impressive sunsets interrupted only by frolicking dolphins.

You can rent the villa and be entirely independent or you can rent it with the option of extras such as cook, masseuse, boat with captain or additional housekeeping. The Villa is setup with hammocks, indoor and outdoor dining as well as comfortable outdoor lounge furniture.

You will have direct access to miles of trails by lagoons, on top of mountains and secret look outs.

The villa itself has 2 upstairs bedrooms. The master suite is setup with a king bed, nightstands, large dresser, soaking tub, vanity and separate toilet. There is a small table and chair next to the nightstand.

The second bedroom is setup with a queen bed and a single pull out sofa. There is a vanity as well as a toilet in the second bedroom.

Downstairs there is the main bathroom with a large walk-in shower and, vanity and toilet.

The villa features a 30ft almendro hardwood deck with inviting hammocks, outdoor dining and lounge furniture as well as an outdoor hot shower. A gentile Caribbean breeze acts as the perfect climate control however there are ceiling fans throughout the villa and outdoor covered decking.

The well-stocked open plan kitchen features granite countertop, stainless steel appliances and custom cabinetry.

There is unlimited free use of kayaks, boogie boards, stand-up paddleboards and a large assortment of snorkeling gear at the villa for your use. The property has a locally made Panga boat with roof and bench seating, comfortable for a full house, guests who want to go exploring or on customized tours (additional charges apply) This boat is dedicated to the house for guests to rent with captain at their convenience.

Upon arrival, our hosts will be waiting for you at the airport to take you shopping for provisions, then to the dock where you will enjoy a short 25-minute boat ride across the bay to Casita del Mar. Upon arrival you will be welcomed and given a tour of the property and amenities. Additional trips to town for provisions can be arrangement (additional charges apply) The house has free wireless internet and cell service with a local network provider.

We can help you organize custom tours including Zapatilla Islands, Starfish Beach, Red Frog Beach, Hiking, Bat Caves, Chocolate Farm, Zip Lining, Horse Back Riding, Scuba Diving, Sport Fishing, Salt Creek Indian Community tour to name just a few.

Please note: Casita del Mar may not be suitable for small children or children that do not know how to swim. There is not a railing around the deck and there are large gaps in the spiral staircase to the upstairs.

Our hosts live locally in the bay and are available to assist as-needed. Our boat and captain are dedicated to the house and can be available for trip and excursions. Our cook can also be available to prepare meals in the villa for guests. We also provide a shopping service.

The Villa is considered remote in a developing country. The services of the property are at the mercy of the weather and local providers so please understand that somethings are out of our control but we will do our best to make sure your stay is a pleasurable one.

Rates & Payment

$375/night minimum 3 nights or $2,250/week

Special Discount Pricing for June, July & August $300/night minimum 3 nights or $1,800/week.

In order to make a reservation, we require 50% deposit with the balance due 30 days before check-in and we take PayPal for payment. CANCELLATION Deposits are fully refundable up until 30 days before check-in.

Check-in is 4pm and Check-out is 10am. If you are arriving earlier or if we have guests checking out the same day, we can arrange for pickup at an early time and we can bring you on an excursion or look after your luggage if you look around town while the house is prepared.

At Casa del Mar, we only take cash as payment for additional expenses that are not booked in advance.
